Monkey: Why are you looking at me for so long?
Me: Yes, My God! can u talk?? Dear! Sometimes I can also understand the sympathetic minds and can communicate with them.
Monkey: Really! That’s fine!
Me: You seem to be so sad and that is why I’m looking at you.
Monkey: How can I be happy? Don’t you see that I am in the chain? Can anyone be happy in the chain? I’m without any relatives, friends and all my dear ones for such a long time.
Me: I am so sorry. I can feel about your suffering, Dear. I’m a member of an organization that works for the prevention of cruelty against animals. Don't worry, I must do something for you.
Monkey: You can do nothing for me. I’ve lost all hopes. I know, I’ll die one day and will be thrown on the heap of wastage.
Me: Don’t lose heart, Dear. I’ll try my best to make you free. Goodbye, wait for a little, please.
The Sea
Activity-8 (a)Pride Breaking of a Proud King
Once there was a proud king. He was always boastful on his power of controlling nature. He used to say, “I can control everything on earth. Every object of earthworks according to my order.” The courtiers of his kingdom knew him as a snob. They desired to witness it. So, they gathered to the king’s court to make a humble request for a test of his power. The king agreed and took them to the sea-shore. He stretched his arm towards the sea and said in a commanding gesture, “Move back, my servant! Go back!” He repeated it several times in vain. Instead of obeying the order of the king, the furious waves lashed at the feet of the king. The king moves back in fear. The courtiers started to laugh at the king. The king ashamed and realised that nothing can control nature.
Moral: Pride goes before destruction

(b)Letter to brother: Brother Be Kind on Animals
Dear BROTHER,
Hi, brother! Hope you are in the best of your health and spirit. From your previous letter, I came to know that you have bitten a little kitten to death. How pity it is! Why have u done so? It is just because, it ate your bread! Shame on you, Brother! You know, animals also play an important role in our life. Have you forgotten the rhymes you read in childhood? Don’t forget that the eco-system of ours is largely depended both on human being and other creatures. They are also beautiful creations of nature. Hope, you know that. If you do so again, you will be considered with none but a butcher. I know, you will never do that again.
Come on, cheer up! What I have told, is good for you. Hope, you will have no grudge for that. Take care of yourself and take my sincere love.

Diary on Experience of Changing Resident
What
becomes of me? I couldn’t understand how to begin, Dear! I’m feeling a bit
depressed today. All these shifting, packing and unpacking made me tired today.
Oh! What a headache! How can I adjust myself in this new locality. Though it
was in the heart of the city, I still couldn’t forget my beloved locality that was
very homely. I was familiar with all my friends, neighbours and all those shops
of grocery and others…. Even the hawkers became familiar to us. That’s a homely environment, indeed. Here people are
so busy that they hardly have time to say anything. I cannot think anymore. I
feel headache! Even the medicine shop is far from here. Oh! I have to manage
here everything and try to settle myself anyhow. Ok, Good night, Dear. More
updates tomorrow. Bye!
The Man Who Planted Trees Act.-10(a)
This imaginary conversation is taken place between Me and a Tree once planted by me-
You: Hello, how tall you have grown! You are much taller than me. Do you remember that day on which I planted you? Hope you will never forget.
Tree: Yes, I clearly remember the day, My Dear. I was then not more than six inches tall.
You: Right. I bought you from a roadside shop selling plants.
Tree: Yes, I was then inside a basket with many other saplings untill you brought me with you.
You: I planted you here on a rainy day and used to take care of you daily. Do you remember the day when a cow came and almost ate you up? How badly you are crying then!
Tree: Oh! That was a horrible day. You came rushing and drove the cow away. You saved me on that day and that is why you’re my everything.
You: Now as I look at you, I feel so happy. You are so green, so beautiful. Please remember me.
Tree: Always, Dear! And the flowers that will bloom in my branches are all for you.
Act.-10(b)
The other day I came to know from your mother that you have been feeling quite let down in your hostel. Truly, it is quite difficult to live all by alone without any friend or relative nearby. But don’t be upset. In my part, I believe, LONELINESS is also a blessing, Dear! You can be more creative. Try to be busy all the time in some constructive activities. We, your friends, will write to you from time to time. Cheer up and make new friends. I hope you will soon be able to overcome the problem.
Someone
Act.-8 (a)
Last year I along with my family members went to visit the Sundarbans. I spent a night in the forest guest house in a place called Chamta. It was a moonlit night. I was sitting beside the window of our guest house and looking outside. My parents were sleeping. The forest looked strange in the faint moonlight. It seemed to me that I was not in our world. I could hear the soundings of water lapping in the nearby canal, cricket's call and sometimes strange unknown sounds coming from the depth of the moonlit forest. It was a strange experience. I would never forget that night.
Act.-8 (b)
I am an owl. You consider me as nocturnal bird. I live at the top of this old deserted house since my birth. I sit at this banyan tree grown on the top of this house in ruins at night and watch the night. It is at night when I feel comfortable and happy. I can see clearly at night. I look for prey and also see many other things like glow worms shimmering in the trees, the moon shining up in the sky. When I see the movement on the ground like a mouse running past I swoop down from the tree. Then when the eating is complete I go back to my place again and enjoy the night and from time to time shout `Tui-whit-to-whoo'.
Mid Night Express
Act.-10 (a)
It is 11.30 now at night. Here I am waiting for the train to arrive at 12 O'clock. My cousin who came to see me off has left half an hour ago. Now I am here all alone with my shadow describing a strange figure on the long deserted platform. Far away down the line, the red signal light is glowing like the eye of a one-eyed demon. The ticket counter is closed. A few insects are fluttering beneath the dim lamp and a few pieces of papers are rustling along with the platform in the gentle wind. It's so lonely. I am feeling so scared and staring in the darkness for the train to arrive.
Act.-10 (b)
This imaginary conversation is taken place between Me and my friend regarding THEADVANTAGES OF VISITING A LIBRARY REGULARLY-
You: Hello, Piyali, where are you going?
Piyali: Oh! I’m going to the library.
You: Library? What have you to do in the library? Do you want to meet someone there?
Piyali: Oh no! I visit the library twice a week in the afternoon.
You: But why? Don't you have your own books?
Piyali: Oh no! It is not about textbooks. I borrow storybooks and read newspapers and magazines, I enjoy reading.
You: Oh! It's a good habit. My father always says that books are never-failing friends. Again you can know about many things from them.
Piyali: Yes, I have been much benefited from these readings. Moreover, the calm and quiet atmosphere of a reading room is very much enjoyable and soothing.
You: You are right. Let me go with you and take a membership.
Piyali: Certainly. Come along with me.
Summer Friend
Activity 8(A)
The other day it was a holy day, which means I could spend the entire day in my own way. I have decided to spend my days with my talking friend, my pet bird Krishno-Kalo. He is a handsome parrot. Getting up early in the morning, I took Krishno-kalo on a walk. He enjoyed the fresh air a lot. After coming back he and I played a game. It is our favourite game in which I name a thing and Krishno-kalo tries to imitate them. In the evening my friends came and joined us. We all enjoyed a lot. Really, we had a wonderful time. We spent the whole evening laughing and playing.
Activity 8(B)
A Villager, one frosty day in the depth of winter, found a
Snake under a hedge almost dead with the cold. Having pity on the poor
creature, he brought it home and laid it on the hearth near the fire. Revived
by the heat, it reared itself up, and with dreadful hissings flew at the wife
and children of its benefactor. The man, hearing their cries, rushed in, and
with a mattock,
which he brought in his hand, soon cut the Snake in pieces. “Vile wretch!” said
he; “is this the reward you make to him who saved your life? Die, as you
deserve; but a single death is too good for you.”
Moral: “A rough is never trusted.”
