 Midnight Express



§   Mortimer’s House was large and old.

§   He found the book in the Library.

§   At night, Mortimer read the book by candlelight when the rest of his large, old house was under darkness.

§   The illustration of page fifty of the book showed an empty railway platform at night lit by a dull yellow lamp. A single man stood there turning his face towards the black mouth of the tunnel.

§   Mortimer suddenly noticed a single man stood under the lamp turning his face towards the black mouth of the tunnel.

§   When Mortimer’s instincts were aroused, he walked quickly walked towards the figure and looked into his face.

§   Being desperate to find a safe shelter Mortimer saw a small white cottage and thought of taking shelter.

§   Act.-3>The illustration on page fifty threatened him for some unknown reason and so, he never read beyond page fifty.

§   Act.-5> a.> Mortimer saw the figure in an illustration on page fifty of a book while reading it.

§   Act.-5>b.>The presence of the solitary figure made Mortimer remember a story he had read in childhood. Being aroused his instinct, he looked into his face and shocked as it resembled his face.

§   Act.-5> c.> When Mortimer stumbled out on the platform, he could hear the echo of his own footsteps steadily gaining him.

§   Act.-7>A.> Mortimer followed the shadowy figure to an upper room where a bright fire was burning.

§   Act.-7>B.>Seeing the same book lying there which he read in childhood, Mortimer was greatly shocked at the on-going events and his hands trembled.

§   Act.-7>C.>Mortimer was having the same experience he had while reading a book in his childhood and he wanted to grasp the strange cycle of events of the book coming alive in front of him.

§   Act.-7>D.> I think he had become the victim of a hallucination. The story he had read in his childhood had deeply rooted in his subconscious mind. If he had not read the book, the incidents would not have occurred.
