Ans: I think Princess September felt lonely and waited eagerly for the return of the bird.
'So he suspected nothing'--- who is 'he'? Why did he not suspect anything?
Ans: Here 'he' is the little bird whom Princess September caught in her hands. The bird did not suspect anything because he was quite used to this.
Why did the little bird stop in the middle of his song?
Ans: The little bird stopped in the middle of his song as he did not feel like singing that night after being kept inside the cage.
How did he try to free himself from the cage?
Ans: The bird tried to slip through the bars of the cage and beat against the door of the cage for making himself free. But he failed in both the efforts.

How did Princess September try to make the little bird happy?
Ans: Princess September took her cage of the bird to the lake and to the rice-field to make the little bird happy.
6      Why did the Princess give 'a sob of relief'?
Ans: The Princess gave a sob of relief because she found that the bird was still alive as its little heart was beating still.
Why was the little bird granted freedom by the Princess?
Ans: The little bird was granted freedom by the princess as she loved the bird and felt that it would die if it was kept in the cage.

Ans: I think that the bird would return to the Princess again because he himself promised to return and what is more-- they loved each other.
